What am I not understanding?
Once again, Catholic Mission Councils across Texas will meet at a conference. The theme is how the government must be pushed to help the poor. Huh?
How is pushing the government to help the poor the goal of Mission? This is not spreading the Gospel.
The largest Mission Council attending the gathering is the Galveston/Houston Diocesan Mission Council. The Bishop's decades old order forbidding parishes to conduct any mission trips in the Mexican Border cities and town continues to exist! (Honduras, Guatemala are safer than Mexico's border?)
Jesus NEVER encouraged followers to demand that the government help the poor. He instructed His followers to do so.
The Catholic Mission leaders will gather to discuss strategies for pushing the government to do what they should be doing.
When church leaders get involved in politics they always forget their real job and ignore what Jesus said. How sad.
